In February 2024, I brought together 36 critical scholars, activists, and community organizers from around the world to share their experiences researching and contesting carceral AI systems. I use the term 'carceral AI' to refer to a broad class of algorithmic and data-driven practices implicated in the control and incarceration of people. The participants are now collectively drafting a special report on carceral AI, and a special issue will follow in the University of Pittsburgh Law Review.
